I was on the phone with my mom yesterday night and she was catching me up with all things family. :)) -gossiping if you like. heh.
When I was in Penang, I lived with my relatives. They have 3 kids. At that time, the eldest daughter was in lower primary... now she's in Form 1! How time flies... the second girl was in kindergarten. Now she's in Standard 4. I adore them. So anyway, this younger cousin, Karyn has build a strong work ethic even in primary school. When they have group work, she'd make sure everything is done perfectly, or to her high expectations. If her friends, slack off she'd be really upset. To the point of crying. She cries when work is not done right. 1- that is so adorable. 2- impressive that she's got such 'work ethnics'. 3- well, if I were her at this moment, I'd cry my eyeballs out.
Yes, I was very disgruntled with my group mates. Now, I'm very 'peik cik' with one of them. (I do not know if 'peik cik' is the right choice of words, but it just sounds right for now.) I did not attend the first group meeting, due to the unavailability of internet, thus not reading the email sent to me about said meeting. Um, if I did not write if I'm going or not (which I think it's a responsible thing to do as part of a group. Let your mates know what the bloody hell you are doing.) at the day itself, can't you even bother texting. Quick text. 'R U coming?'. If I don't text back at all. Fine. I'm not a good group mate to work with. End of story.
But I am not like that. I want to be involved in group meetings. I see this as a result of circumstances. Anyway, fine. Few days later, when I found out about the said missed meeting. I write to them asking about it. What I missed, etc. They probably forgot I was even in the group. They did not even bother to let me know what was going on!! *fumes*
Fine. I wrote them, reminding them of such thing as texting and mobile number. I am contactable via text! *fumes*
Moving on. I just came back from the second group meeting. Oh yes, from the first meeting, it was apparently a democratic vote that another mate and I will do the presentation and the other three will do the slides and researching, etc. Fine. I was not there to vote or whatever. I take my case. So fast forward to present. We had a meeting, got together to work out the slides. There were missing data that is crucial for the presentation.
Alright. So this one particular turd. None of the other two mates complained of their workload. I could only assume that they know what they were getting into when they voted themselves to do the research and slides. (I mean, one could only assume!) At the end of the meeting, when we were about to leave. This turd nonchalantly says to the other guy and myself, "Ah you guys are free-riding, BS,BS,BS, etc."
Wait, what?
1- I detest freeloaders and hence will never be one myself.
2- I am 'free-riding' as he put it as a result of? HIS OWN FRIGGIN VOTE!
3- If he can't handle the workload, don't take it upon yourself.
4- I expressed clearly that if help was needed, let me know, I'd take care of it.
So I told him- Was that not your decision in the first place?
As this was going on, he had that laugh and smile on his turd face.
WHAT A TURD!
Well, I walked off after that. If I stayed any longer, I'd have caused a commotion in the library.
So if I was Karyn, I'd be crying my eyeballs out in frustration.
aww lainey, sorry to hear about the group members you have to face with. what a turd indeed! was that guy white or asian? i hope all goes well anyway, if things get worst you could maybe report to the tutor? i'll keep you and ur work in my prayers :)
